Arguably, the most recognisable Champagne brand in the world. The yellow adorned on their labels – looks orange, but is in fact the colour of the great Madame Clicquots’ favourite duck’s yolk. Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin (Veuve Clicquot) took over the business in 1805, creating the first vintage champagne in 1810, inventing the first riddling table process in 1816 and making the first rose d'assemblage in 1818. These major breakthroughs as well as her entrepreneurship spirit makes her one of the greatest businesswomen of her century. During the Napoleonic Wars, she played a vital role in establishing her champagne as a favoured drink of high society and nobility, selling her champagne to Imperial Russia. The company was purchased in 1986 by Louis-Vuitton and continues to expand worldwide, as one of the top-selling champagnes in the world.
